Love is in the air – 2025 looks set to be a record year for weddings

More couples in love than in several years are planning to say yes to each other in 2025. This is shown by recent figures from the Swedish Tax Agency – and now the entire wedding industry is preparing for an intense season. At Schalins, we are already seeing a sharp increase in interest in wedding and engagement rings.

Love is flourishing – and it shows in the statistics

According to the Swedish Tax Agency, a record number of Swedes have already applied for impediment assessment ahead of this summer's weddings. In March alone, over 6,000 applications were received, which is the highest number for the month in several years.

“We see a similar trend here,” says Sandra Lundqvist, CEO of Schalins. “The interest in finding the perfect ring has increased significantly since the turn of the year. More and more people want to make their love something eternal – literally.”

A ring for every love story

At Schalins, which has been making rings in the heart of Jämtland since 1944, the pressure is clearly felt. Many couples are looking for something personal, timeless – but at the same time trendy.

“In 2025, we see that the alliance ring, with sparkling brilliants around all or parts of the ring, is especially sought after. It symbolizes eternity, which is perfect at a time when many want to mark their love for real,” says Sandra Lundqvist.

For those of you planning a wedding this summer, it's high time to both apply for an impediment assessment and choose rings. The Swedish Tax Agency urges everyone to be out in good time, as the processing time is currently about two weeks - but may be longer as we get closer to summer.
