General Terms & Conditions

These General Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply between you as a customer and Schalins Ringar AB, reg. no. 556161–6110, Box 3036, 831 03 Östersund, Sweden (“Schalins”, “we”, “us”, “our”), when you purchase jewellery via our website www.schalins.com.

To purchase jewellery from us, you must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18, parental or guardian consent is required. By placing an order, you accept these Terms.

1. About Us

Schalins represents Swedish design of the highest quality and is today one of the largest ring manufacturers in the Nordic region. Since 1944, we have taken responsibility for quality, craftsmanship, and production. Every stage of the process is handled with care — from initial design to final engraving — in our modern facility in Östersund, Sweden. Your jewellery begins production from scratch the day your order is confirmed.

2. Our Assortment

While best known for engagement and wedding rings, our assortment also includes pendants and earrings — crafted to the same high standards.

Each piece is made specifically for you based on your selections (metal, stone, size, engraving, etc.). You may choose from one of our collections or customise your piece entirely.

When you choose Schalins, you choose Swedish craftsmanship at every stage — from metal and design to final finishing.

3. Rings

3.1 Selection

Our assortment includes engagement rings, diamond rings, and combination rings. We offer:

  • Gold (red, yellow, white, rose)
  • Platinum
  • Palladium
  • Silver
  • Titanium

Available in:

  • 18K or 14K gold
  • Palladium 500
  • Platinum 950
  • Silver 935
  • Titanium

You may also select surface finishes such as matte, brushed, blasted, diamond-brushed, or hammered finishes.

3.2 Choosing Your Size

To help you find the correct size, we offer a complimentary ring sizer, which you can order free of charge.

4. Ordering

When placing an order, you will select material, stone, engraving, and other specifications. Before submitting, you will see a summary of your selections and total price.

After payment, the amount will be reserved pending order confirmation. If paying via Klarna, the amount may be charged immediately.

We reserve the right to decline orders in cases of suspected fraud.

4.1 Order Confirmation

A binding agreement is formed only once you receive an order confirmation via email. Please ensure your contact details are correct.

4.2 Changes to Orders

Production begins immediately after confirmation. Therefore, changes cannot be made once the order is confirmed, unless the error is attributable to us.

5. Payment

We offer secure payment via:

  • VISA
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Direct bank payment
  • Klarna (Pay Later, Pay Now, Installments)

We use Shopify Payments, PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, with 3D Secure authentication.

6. Delivery

6.1 Delivery Time

Production time: 1–5 business days
Shipping time: 1–3 business days

If delays occur, we will contact you. You may cancel if the revised delivery date is unacceptable.

6.2 Shipping Method

We ship via PostNord Registered (REK) with tracking. Shipping is free of charge.

Valid identification is required upon collection.

6.3 Uncollected Packages

A fee of 400 SEK applies for unclaimed shipments. Payment for the product remains due.

6.4 Damaged or Lost Shipments

We assume risk until collection. Contact customer service immediately if damage occurs.

If lost in transit, we will send a replacement.

6.5 Checking Your Delivery

Please verify that the item matches your order upon receipt and notify us promptly of discrepancies.

6.6 Ring Resizing

If you order the wrong size, resizing is available from approx. 700 SEK depending on material and design.

7. Quality Assurance

7.1 Hallmarks

All jewellery carries quality hallmarks. Our maker’s mark SCH (formerly SCHALIN, BÖS, or BES) identifies Schalins as the manufacturer.

Since 2018, all stamps are laser engraved.

7.2 Gold & The Swedish “Cat’s Foot”

18K gold rings are stamped with the Swedish “Cat’s Foot” hallmark — introduced in 1754 as an independent state guarantee of precious metal content. Testing is performed by Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE).

7.3 Certificates

All diamond rings are engraved with total carat weight and delivered with a certificate stating:

  • Metal type
  • Carat weight
  • Diamond quality (if applicable)
  • Delivery date

Diamonds ≥ 0.50 ct (natural or lab-grown) include international certification from GIA, IGI, or HRD.

We offer both natural and lab-grown diamonds, which share identical chemical and physical properties.

8. Service & Maintenance

We offer repair and modification services through our authorised retailers.

We recommend diamond rings be inspected every six months.

Avoid wearing rings during activities that may cause excessive wear (exercise, gardening, sleeping, etc.).

9. Right of Withdrawal

You have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases.

  • Notify us within 14 days
  • Return within 14 days of notification
  • You pay return shipping

The right of withdrawal does not apply to customised items (e.g., engraved or made-to-order pieces).

Refunds are processed within 14 days after receiving the return.

We follow Swedish Consumer Agency and ARN guidelines regarding depreciation deductions.

10. Complaints

Under Swedish Consumer Sales Law, you have a 3-year warranty period.

Complaints must be submitted within a reasonable time (within 2 months is always considered reasonable).

If approved, we will repair, replace, or refund the item.

Refunds are processed within 14 working days after approval.

11. Disputes

If unresolved, disputes may be submitted to:

We comply with ARN recommendations.

12. Personal Data

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Transfer of Rights

We reserve the right to transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or defects caused by circumstances beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, fires, strikes, or government actions).
