GENERAL TERMS OF PURCHASE

These general purchase terms ("Terms") apply between you as a customer and Schalins Ringar AB, org. no. 556161–6110, Box 3036, 831 03 Östersund ("Schalins", "we", "us", "our"), when you buy a piece of jewelery from us via our website www.schalins.com .

Note that we currently only deliver within Sweden.

In order to buy a piece of jewelery from us, you need to be at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, your guardian's approval is required.

By purchasing a piece of jewelry from us, you agree to these Terms.

1. ABOUT US

Schalins stands for Swedish design of the highest quality and today we are one of the largest ring manufacturers in the Nordics. We have been around since 1944 and you can feel safe that we take responsibility for both quality and production. It is important to us that every part of the process is done in the right way. Our skilled artisans take care of everything from the initial design to the final engraving and we start making your piece of jewelry from scratch the same day you order it.

2. OUR RANGE

We are perhaps best known for our long tradition of wedding and engagement rings, but our jewelery range is wider than that. Our jewelery range also consists of pendants and earrings, with the same high standard and quality as our rings.

Each piece of jewelery is made especially for you based on the choices you make, for example regarding material, stone, size and engraving. You can choose a piece of jewelry from one of our collections, or customize your piece from scratch based on your wishes.

When you choose a piece of jewelery from Schalins, you are choosing Swedish in all respects, from metal and craftsmanship to quality and design.

3. ESPECIALLY ABOUT OUR RINGS

3.1 SELECTION

Our range of rings includes engagement rings, diamond rings and combination rings. We have rings in gold (red, yellow, white or rose), platinum, palladium, silver and titanium. You can choose between gold in 18K, 14K, palladium 500, platinum 950, silver 935 or titanium. Our rings can be set with diamonds and precious stones. Our rings in silver, palladium and titanium can also be attached with cubic zirconia.

In addition to choosing between different metals, you can also choose a surface to put your individual stamp on your ring. Examples of different surfaces are intermediate matting, rough matting, blasting, brushing, diamond brushing and hammering. You can read more about our metals and surfaces at www.schalins.com .

3.2 HOW TO CHOOSE SIZE

In addition to the design of your ring, you also need to choose a size. To make it easier for you to find the right size for you, we offer the option of ordering a size tape at home completely free of charge. With the help of the size tape, you can measure which size fits your finger best.

4. ORDER

When you place an order for a piece of jewelry with us, you go through several different steps where you can make choices regarding, for example, material, stone, engraving, etc. In a final step, you can see a summary of your choices and a final price total. If you find any inaccuracies, you can correct them here. When you feel satisfied with your order, you send your order to us for our approval.

Please note that once you have placed the order and made payment (see point 5 below), Schalins will reserve the amount pending confirmation of your order. If you choose to pay via Klarna, the amount may be deducted immediately.

We reserve the right to refuse a placed order if we suspect attempted fraud or other irregularities. In that case, you will be informed of this and the purchase price will be refunded to you.

4.1 ORDER CONFIRMATION

Once we have approved your order, you will receive an order confirmation emailed to you. It is therefore of the utmost importance that you provide us with your correct contact and delivery details.

Note that it is only when you have received your order confirmation that a binding agreement between you and us has arisen regarding your purchase (your order).

4.2 CHANGES TO ORDERS PLACED

In order for us to be able to deliver your jewelry with the shortest possible delivery time, your jewelry will begin to be manufactured directly after we have confirmed your order. We cannot therefore make any further changes to a confirmed order, unless errors attributable to us have occurred in the order confirmation.

5. PAYMENT

We offer you as a customer a safe and secure payment solution for your purchase via bank card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express) or direct payment, invoice and partial payment via Klarna.

When paying by card, the purchase amount is deducted immediately when you place your order.

We use Shopify Payment as payment provider.

Shopify Payment is PCI compliant and thus certified level 1 PCI DSS compliant as well as 3D Secure. 3D Secure means an extra layer of security for online credit and debit card transactions.

With Klarna Pay Later, Klarna Pay Now and Klarna Split Up, your customers can choose to pay for their orders with a number of different options. With these payment options, customers can pay immediately, via invoice or via direct debit or credit card installments. With the help of Klarna at Shopify Payments, your customers get a secure and simple payment process at checkout.

Klarna Pay Later is an invoicing method for Shopify Payments. When you choose Klarna Pay Later as a payment method, you agree to pay for the purchase at a later time.

Klarna Pay Now allows you to pay using your internet banking details. Klarna Pay now connects to your bank account and the money is debited immediately from your bank account.

When you choose Klarna Pay Now, you are redirected to the Klarna website to pay for your order. The Klarna website prompts you to register with your login credentials if you are using this payment option for the first time or to log into your account and use your linked bank account to pay for the order.

With Klarna Dela Upp, you can pay with financing. You pay the amount due in installments over 6 to 36 months, with or without interest.

Once you have chosen, you will be redirected to the Klarna website to choose which installment you want to use to pay for your order.

6 DELIVERY

6.1 DELIVERY TIME

Our ambition is to deliver your jewelery to you as soon as possible. Our production time from the time you place your order is 1–5 days. To this is added a delivery time of 1–3 working days.

If the delivery deviates from the initial estimated time, we will contact you primarily by phone, if this is unsuccessful, we will contact you secondarily by email.

If you are not satisfied with the new specified delivery date, you have the right to cancel your order.

6.2 METHOD OF DELIVERY

We send our shipments with Postnord REK, which means that the shipment can be tracked. You choose your delivery location yourself when you place your order. We cover the shipping cost.

In order to pick up the parcel from your postal agent, you must be able to show valid identification, this is a security measure so that only you and no one else can pick up your jewellery.

6.3 IF YOU DO NOT COLLECT YOUR PACKAGE

If you do not pick up your shipment, we reserve the right to charge you a return fee for unclaimed packages of SEK 400. Please note that the return fee only relates to the handling of your unredeemed package and that your obligation to pay for the ordered item remains.

6.4 DAMAGED OR LOST DELIVERY

We bear the risk regarding your delivery until you collect your shipment from your post office. If your shipment should be damaged before it has been collected from the relevant postal agent, this must be reported to our customer service .

For a smooth and quick handling of the matter, we urge you to report the transport damage to us already on the same day.

If your shipment should be lost before it has been picked up at the relevant postal agent, you will be compensated for the loss by us sending out a new delivery of the jewelery you have ordered. Contact our customer service and we will help you.

6.5 CONTROL OF DELIVERY

When you have received your shipment, it is important that you check that it corresponds to your order and contact us within a reasonable time if you discover any discrepancy.

6.6 WRONG SIZE OF RING

If you should discover that you have chosen the wrong size of your ring, we offer you a size change for a fee, from about SEK 700 and up depending on the material and model. Contact customer service for exact price.

7. OUR QUALITY RESPONSIBILITY

7.1 QUALITY STAMPS

Our jewelery is quality products. In Sweden, there is a long tradition of quality stamps to indicate quality. The name stamp SCH (or formerly SCHALIN, BÖS or BES) shows that it is Schalins who is the manufacturer of the piece of jewellery. Since autumn 2018, all Schalins stamps are made with laser.

Our earrings are stamped in the spinner bus with SCH 750 and the loop of the earrings is stamped with SCH 18K.

7.2 PARTICULARLY ABOUT OUR RINGS

You can always be sure that you will get the quality you are looking for when you buy a ring from us.

Cat's foot
Our gold rings in 18K are stamped with the Cat's Foot. In 1754, the Cat's Foot was introduced as an impartial control stamp with the state as guarantor. Kattfoten is Sweden's oldest consumer protection and stands for security and tradition. The cat's foot shows that the gold is controlled by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) through continuous independent tests. RISE is an independent control body that guarantees that we meet the strict requirements for the content of precious metals in our gold alloys. As a customer, you can therefore be convinced that the ring you buy from us has been manufactured under the very best quality and environmental control.

Stamps, engraving and certificates
A genuine Schalins ring is provided with a name stamp, metal engraving and, where applicable, carat engraving, a diamond ring is also engraved with the total carat on the diamonds, and is always delivered with a certificate where we state the metal of the ring and any carat content, where applicable, quality and carat weight of the diamonds, and delivery date. The certificate is a document of value and together with the relevant engraving it shows that the ring is not a plagiarism.

Especially about our diamonds and associated certificates
We provide both natural diamonds and synthetic diamonds, also called lab grown and "lab grown". An LG diamond shares the same chemical composition, crystal structure, optical and physical properties as a natural diamond.

Natural diamonds from 0.50 ct and above, as well as LG diamonds from 0.50 ct and above, are delivered with internationally accredited certificates, issued by independent international organizations such as GIA (Gemmological Institute of America), IGI (International Gemmological Institute) and HRD (Antwerp Institute of Gemmology).

8. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR JEWELERY

Your jewelry is meant to last for a long time. Sometimes accidents happen, or you might want to make a change. We offer service for both repairs and modification work through our Dealers. Contact any of them for further information.

9. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase from us. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve the situation satisfactorily.

We apply a 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases on the website. The right of withdrawal period starts counting from the day you received your order. Remember that you must notify us that you regret your purchase within 14 days of receiving the item. For a smooth and safe return, we ask you to use our return form and our other instructions, which you can find here .

You must return the item to us within 14 days of your cancellation notice. You are responsible for the return costs yourself, we recommend that you choose the same delivery procedure as for your delivery (PostNord REK)

The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods manufactured according to your instructions or which have otherwise received a clear personal touch, for example through engraving or because you have given us instructions on how the ring should turn out.

Depreciation deductions: we apply ARN and the Swedish Consumer Agency's guidelines regarding depreciation deductions.

We reserve the right to make a depreciation deduction if an item is returned in a deteriorated condition (when the right of withdrawal has been exercised). To avoid depreciation deductions, you should therefore ensure that the item(s) are in an unused condition, undamaged, unaltered, without scratches and in the original packaging, including certificate.

The refund will be made without undue delay and in any case no later than 14 days from the day on which we received your notice that you have canceled the purchase. However, we reserve the right to withhold the refund until we have received the item back from you or until you have submitted proof that you returned the item, whichever occurs first. Refunds are made in the same way as the original payment, unless otherwise expressly agreed with you.

10. COMPLAINT

As a consumer, you have the right to complain in the event of original errors in purchased goods and in the event of delays. If you advertise your product due to damage, faulty production or other original fault, we will make an objective assessment and request the jewelry. According to the Consumer Purchase Act, you always have 3 (three) years and 2 (two) months right of complaint on all goods, this of course applies to all our rings and other goods. In the event of a complaint, a notification must be made within a reasonable time. A complaint that takes place within two (2) months of the error being discovered is always considered to have been made within a reasonable time (after the error was discovered or should have been discovered).

If we are not able to repair your complained about item or replace you with a similar item (either not at all or not within a reasonable time after the complaint), you have the right to demand a price reduction or cancel the purchase and have the money refunded in accordance with Products are jewelery that should carried with great care and reviewed regularly.

We recommend that diamond rings should be inspected every six months to ensure that the diamonds are properly seated.

Remember to never wear your rings in situations where extra wear and tear may occur, such as exercise, gardening, washing dishes, sleeping and the like.

If we are unable to replace you with a similar item, you have the right to cancel the purchase and have the money refunded. Damages can be claimed by you as a consumer.

In the event of an approved complaint, Schalins is responsible for the return cost. Refunds are made within 14 working days from the time we received and approved your return/complaint.

We can only make a refund in the same way and to the same account that was used at the time of purchase.

If you believe that an item is faulty or delivered late, you must send us a message describing the fault or delay - a complaint message. Please send the message via our complaint form, which you can find here . Our other contact details can be found at the top of this page or alternatively here

In the event of an unapproved complaint, you as a consumer (if applicable) must reimburse Schalins, e.g. compensation for return shipping or other administrative costs.

11. DISPUTES & COMPLAINTS

If a dispute arises that we cannot resolve together, you can turn to the General Complaints Board or the EU's online platform EU ODR.

We undertake to follow the General Complaints Board's recommendations.

12. PERSONAL DATA

13. OTHER

We reserve the right to assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to third parties.

14. FORCE MAJEURE

Schalins is exempt from sanctions for not fulfilling certain obligations under this agreement if it is due to an aggravating circumstance as described below and the circumstance prevents, complicates or delays fulfillment. An aggravating circumstance shall include, but is not limited to, official action or failure to act, new or amended legislation, labor conflict, blockade, fire, flood, sabotage, major accident or other type of natural disaster. Force majeure includes government decisions that negatively affect the market and products, e.g. restrictions on indications, warning texts, sales bans, etc., abnormal decline in the market and the company that has been exposed to criminal activity affecting the business.
