History

Schalins Ringar's history began in 1944, the same year Örjan Schalin was born. Brother Schalin started his production of the esteemed Jämtskogen coffee spoon in the small family shop on Prästgatan in central Östersund. This craft was what laid the foundation for what became Schalins Ringar AB.

A lot has happened since then. Örjan Schalin, son of Bror, followed in his father's footsteps and eventually took over the business. Örjan had a great interest in developing jewelry manufacturing with a focus on engagement and wedding rings. As the demand for rings increased, the goldsmith's shop became too small and the need for larger premises grew. In the years 1987-1989, Örjan had a factory built which is still today the place where all the manufacturing of engagement and wedding rings takes place.

Thanks to knowledgeable and dedicated employees, some of whom are still with the company after 40 years, Schalins Ringar's business concept has been successful - to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.

About the craft

We at Schalins have been manufacturing rings since 1944 and even today there is the same genuine passion for the craft. At our modern facility in Östersund, we gather experience and impressive professional skills that make us proud every day.

Here we create your ring with a genuine feeling for every moment down to the smallest detail. Our solid knowledge combined with advanced mechanical engineering is used to shape each ring from a core of gold, which is melted and cast carefully and precisely.

Each ring then goes through a process of patterning and engraving, before being finished with a hand polish to achieve a perfect high gloss finish. If you have chosen a ring with precious stones, they are set by hand with great precision by our talented jewelers. Before your ring is delivered, it is carefully inspected and checked to ensure that it is of the highest quality.

We create our rings and jewelry with a passion for both design and craftsmanship, as well as a deep appreciation for high-quality materials.

With us you will only find jewelery made from precious metals such as gold, platinum, palladium, silver but also titanium. In our extensive range, you can choose between plain and patterned rings, or adorned with diamonds and other precious stones. Our rings not only exude beauty, but are also designed to last both today and for generations to come.

About the environment and sustainability

At Schalins, we are dedicated to environmentally friendly and sustainable methods. When you invest in a ring or piece of jewelry from us, you can be sure that we use 100% recycled fine gold, conflict-free diamonds and only fossil-free electricity.

Our metals undergo a completely circular process within Sweden; we obtain them from a Swedish supplier and recycle 50% of the gold directly in our manufacturing.

We strongly distance ourselves from diamonds that finance conflicts and other unethical conditions. Our diamonds come from European suppliers based in Antwerp and are certified according to The Kimberley Certification Scheme (KPCS), to be completely conflict-free.
